Miley Cyrus earns her first Billboard 200 No. 1 in 13 years as 'Bass Persuades' debuts at the top with 61,000 equivalent album units, narrowly ahead of Ella Langley.
Miley Cyrus has returned to the top of the Billboard 200 for the first time in over a decade, as her tenth studio album, Bass Persuades, debuts at No. 1 on the chart dated Oct. 3.
The album arrives with 61,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending Sept. 24, according to Luminate. Of that total, album sales comprise 47,000 units, streaming equivalent units account for 14,000 (equal to 14.22 million on-demand official streams of the album's songs), and track equivalent units were negligible. It also debuts at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart.
It is Cyrus's sixth chart-topping album and her 16th project to reach the top 10. Her last Billboard 200 leader was Bangerz in October 2013, ending a gap of roughly 13 years. Her previous studio release, Something Beautiful, peaked at No. 4 in June 2025.
A tight race at the top
The victory was narrow. Ella Langley's Dandelion holds at No. 2 with nearly 61,000 equivalent album units, up one percent from the prior week, while Riley Green's That's Just Me enters at No. 3 with 60,000 units, his first top 10 and best week by units. Rounding out the top five are Morgan Wallen's I'm the Problem at No. 4 and Olivia Rodrigo's latest project at No. 5. Beabadoobee also scores a first top 10 on the tally.
Cyrus announced Bass Persuades on Sept. 1 and released it on Sept. 18. Its title track and first single, unveiled Sept. 3, debuted at No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her 24th top 40 hit. For this era, the singer is billing herself mononymously as Miley.
The strong first-week sales were supported by an unusually broad physical release: 16 vinyl variants (one with a bonus track), nine CD variants (one with a bonus track), six download variants and a cassette.
Third act in 2026 to end a long wait
Cyrus is the third artist in 2026 to go at least a decade between Billboard 200 No. 1s. Bruno Mars returned to the summit in March with The Romantic, 13 years after Unorthodox Jukebox in 2013, while A$AP Rocky topped the chart in January with Don't Be Dumb, more than ten years after At.Long.Last.A$AP in 2015.
On the singles side, Langley's Choosin' Texas holds at No. 1 on the Hot 100 for a 24th week, a week after breaking Mariah Carey's record for the most weeks atop the tally with All I Want For Christmas Is You. The song also sets the record for most weeks at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart, at 19.
Cyrus is next set for a rare return to the stage with a two-night run at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Oct. 16 and 18, with Model/Actriz, who feature on the album, joining as special guests.
